1. The Signal & The Amplifier

AI is the most formidable amplifier of cognitive capability ever built. But amplifiers obey an ironclad law: they require a pre-existing input signal. Amplify dense, disciplined thinking — and you generate extraordinary insight. Amplify cognitive passivity — and you produce sophisticated-sounding noise at unprecedented scale.

Ethical judgment and creative synthesis (Tier III) cannot be exercised by someone who never built internal metacognition and personal conviction (Tier II).
